People often come to therapy when they're feeling lost, anxious or disconnected. There are times when everyone faces difficulties or feels vulnerable, and psychotherapy can be used to explore your anxieties, feelings or distress without judgement.  Through our relationship and the therapy it is hoped that, over time, you will reach an understanding and acceptance of the issues you bring and achieve a happier way of life.

Therapy is always tailored to suit every individual and I adhere to the Code of Ethics and Professional Practice laid down by the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP).

I'm Megan Tomlin and I'm a BACP Registered Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist working in Lancashire. I have a Masters with distinction and post graduate diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy. Alongside my private practice, I also work as a counsellor and assessor for an organisation in Bolton. I previously worked in further education and lived for many years in Italy before returning to continue my training in counselling and psychotherapy.

It can take great courage to come to therapy and I offer a warm, confidential and safe space for you to talk about how you're feeling. I deal with a diverse range of issues including but not limited to relationship problems, loss, grief and bereavement, self-confidence and self-esteem, depression, bullying, addiction and trauma.  I also work as a couples' therapist. With understanding, sensitive challenge and support, I believe that positive change and growth are possible.

I work from a comfortable and safe office in Horwich with easy access to motorways.

Our work together

I am an integrative psychotherapist which means that one size does not fit all; I am flexible in how I work depending on your individual needs. I am an integrative psychotherapist which means that one size does not fit all; I am flexible in how I work depending on your individual needs. Our work may explore early relationships and childhood experiences and how they impact you today, or we may focus more on the here and now and how you function in different environments.

This experience will be about your journey, and you will never be made to do anything that you are not comfortable with. I work at your pace, and can offer both long and short-term psychological support depending on your requirements.

 I offer:

  • short-term counselling
  • long-term psychotherapy

Short term counselling is usually six to twelve sessions.

*I also offer telephone and online sessions. This can be discussed upon an initial telephone call.

Couples

Why come to couples' therapy?

It can be difficult to remember sometimes why you fell in love with your partner or perhaps why you're still together. Communication can break down, leaving each of you feeling frustrated and isolated, which can lead to dysfunctional habits and repetitive cycles. Therapy for couples can help to identify patterns, emotional wounds and other underlying factors in your relationship which may be causing problems. I offer a neutral space in which mutual respect and listening is encouraged. If you are struggling and want to heal your relationship, therapy can help you to find that compassion and understanding that perhaps over time has diminished. It can help you not only as a couple, but also as individuals.
